TikTok Monetization Requirements for Every Program
TikTok monetization requirements differ by program: Creator Rewards asks for a Personal account, age 18 or older (19 in South Korea), 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, while going LIVE (where Gifts are earned), TikTok Shop affiliate in the US and TikTok One projects start at 1,000 followers. Most programs add age and region conditions on top.
These rules decide which routes in how to make money on TikTok are open to you, and what each route pays is covered in how much TikTok pays. For the brand side of creator deals, see our influencer marketing strategy.

Can business accounts monetize on TikTok?
Not through Creator Rewards: TikTok says Business accounts and political or government accounts aren’t eligible, and its Creator Academy calls the program exclusively for Personal Account holders. Checked against TikTok Help Center: Creator Rewards Program
Other programs treat account type differently:
- Series: TikTok’s Help Center accepts a public Personal or Business account; its Creator Academy says Personal, with Business accounts eligible in select regions. Checked against TikTok Help Center: About Series
- TikTok Shop: businesses can register as US sellers, under requirements separate from those for creator affiliates. Checked against TikTok Shop Seller University (US): How to register as an Individual
TikTok’s Help Center lists three account types (General, also called Personal; Verified Business; and Organization), with no separate Creator account, and says a General account suits content creators. Checked against TikTok Help Center: Account types on TikTok You change account type through Settings and privacy, then Account, then Business verification. TikTok advises against switching back and forth, because verification isn’t saved, and suggests two separate accounts if you want to promote a business and also post personal content.

Why am I not eligible for TikTok monetization?
Run through TikTok’s conditions one at a time; for Creator Rewards, each of these keeps an account, or a video, out:
- A Business account, or a political or government account
- Age under 18 (19 in South Korea)
- Fewer than 10,000 followers, or under 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Not based in, or registered in, a listed country
- Videos shorter than a minute, or posted before you joined
- Fake views or inflated follower counts, which get an account removed from the program
- An account not in good standing, or inauthentic account information

TikTok’s Creator Academy adds reasons of its own: personal or business contact details in your profile, artificial engagement, 5 video violations in the past 30 days, or 5 total account violations, which make an account permanently ineligible. Unoriginal content is the other trap. TikTok’s originality policy treats copied videos, largely repurposed ones without creative edits, low-value compilations and videos with someone else’s visible watermark as unoriginal Checked against TikTok Creator Academy: Understanding TikTok's Originality Policy, and unoriginal content is ineligible for Creator Rewards. If you repeatedly post content unsuitable for the For You feed, TikTok says your account and posts won’t appear there and will be harder to find in search, which matters when eligible videos need qualified For You views. TikTok notifies you in your inbox and on your profile, and you can appeal:
In the app: From your inbox:
- In the TikTok app, tap Inbox at the bottom.
- Tap the notification that your account is ineligible for recommendation.
- Tap View more.
- Review the ineligible videos, then tap Appeal at the top.

- Tap the Ineligible for recommendation notice below your username.
- Review the ineligible videos, then tap Appeal at the top.

TikTok monetization FAQ
What follower minimum does each TikTok program set?
It depends on the program. Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers, and so does Series, which accepts fewer if you meet its other rules and can link premium content you’ve sold elsewhere. Going LIVE, where Gifts are earned, takes 1,000 followers, a number TikTok says may vary by region. TikTok Shop affiliate in the US and TikTok One projects also start at 1,000.
Do videos have to be over 1 minute to earn on TikTok?
For the Creator Rewards Program, yes: TikTok requires videos at least one minute long, and only videos posted after you join count, each with at least 1,000 qualified For You feed views. Series has its own rule: each video in a Series runs from 30 seconds to 20 minutes.
Can business accounts monetize on TikTok?
Not through Creator Rewards, which is for Personal accounts only; Business accounts and political or government accounts aren’t eligible. For Series, TikTok’s pages differ: the Help Center accepts a public Personal or Business account, while the Creator Academy says Business accounts are eligible in select regions. Businesses can also sell on TikTok Shop, which has its own seller requirements.
Which countries are eligible for TikTok Creator Rewards?
TikTok’s Creator Academy lists the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. You must be based in one of these countries and have an account registered there. TikTok describes the program as currently open in these countries, so the list can change.
Why am I not eligible for TikTok monetization?
For Creator Rewards, check each condition TikTok lists: a Personal account rather than a Business or government account, age 18 or older (19 in South Korea), 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, a base in a listed country, videos at least a minute long, original content rather than Duets or Stitches, and good standing. Fake views or inflated follower counts get an account removed from the program.
