General for yourself or your content, Verified Business for a business, Organization for a team that runs one account together. In more detail:
- You, a creator or a public figure: General. It keeps both music libraries and the private-account option, and only Personal accounts can join the Creator Rewards Program.
- A business, brand or shop: Verified Business, for Business Suite and a profile website link at any follower count, as long as commercially licensed music is enough. Checked against TikTok Help Center: How to add a link to your TikTok profile
- A team sharing one brand account: Organization, where TikTok offers it. (On YouTube, the equivalent is a YouTube Brand Account.)
- A business and a personal side: two accounts. TikTok recommends separate accounts if you want to promote a business and also post personal content. Checked against TikTok Help Center: How to change your account type Our free TikTok name generator can name both.

Personal vs business: what do you gain and lose?
A Verified Business Account gains business tools and loses music: TikTok gives it the Commercial Music Library but not the general music library, whose songs are restricted to personal entertainment use. It also can’t join Creator Rewards. A General account keeps both libraries, the private option and monetization programs, but needs 1,000 followers for a profile link.
| General (Personal) | Verified Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Music | General music library and Commercial Music Library | Commercial Music Library only |
| Money | Monetization programs, where available | Not eligible for Creator Rewards |
| Analytics | TikTok Studio, once you have a public post | Business Suite |
| Private account | Available | Described as public profiles |
| Website link on profile | From 1,000 followers | Yes |
| Business address, email or phone on profile | No | Yes |
| Promote and LIVE | Yes | Yes |
