YouTube Shorts best practices: what does YouTube rank?

Up to 3 minutes: YouTube uploads a square or vertical video of 3 minutes or less as a Short. Checked against YouTube Help: Upload YouTube videos (Android phone & tablet; iPhone & iPad variant identical) Length earns nothing by itself; YouTube says relative watch time matters more for short videos, so make each Short only as long as its idea needs. Music can cap a Short’s length too: how many seconds of a library track you can use depends on the track, and YouTube’s pages give different limits, quoted side by side in adding music to a Short. YouTube’s own pages disagree. Its three-minute Shorts article and its music eligibility article say a Short over one minute with an active copyright claim is blocked globally; its Create YouTube Shorts article says such Shorts will no longer be automatically blocked and may remain playable. Until they agree, royalty-free music from the YouTube Audio Library is the safest route for a Short over one minute: YouTube says those tracks won’t receive a Content ID claim. Checked against YouTube Help: Understand three-minute YouTube Shorts

Not in the description or comments: YouTube makes URLs there non-clickable “to reduce spam and scam attempts”.
