Metricool Review 2026: Pros, Cons and Who It Suits
Metricool reviews are mostly positive: 4.4 out of 5 on Capterra from 98 reviews, and 4.0 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 671, both checked on 30 September 2026. Reviewers praise the analytics, the reports and how easy it is to use. The complaints that keep coming back are renewal charges, uneven support, and team features that only arrive on the Advanced plan.
How this review was made. We make a competing social media tool, and we did not use Metricool for this review: nobody here logged in, ran tests or timed anything. We read Metricool’s pricing page and help-centre articles, then the reviews on Capterra and Trustpilot, all on 30 September 2026. G2 and TrustRadius blocked our requests, so G2’s score appears second-hand and labelled as such, and TrustRadius has no score at all. Where a point comes from reviewers rather than from Metricool’s documentation, we say so. Our general method is in how we compare tools.

What is Metricool, and who is it built for?
Metricool is a social media planner and analytics tool. It schedules posts, reports on results and benchmarks competitors across 11 networks, including Twitch, Google Business Profile and Bluesky. It prices by brand (one business or client), which suits freelancers, small businesses and agencies that report to clients. It is a weaker fit for large customer-care teams.
Its main parts are a content planner, analytics and reports, competitor tracking and an inbox, with link-in-bio pages (SmartLinks) on paid plans. Metricool’s analytics overview lists the networks and the campaign dashboards that put Facebook, Instagram and Google ads next to organic posts.
What do Metricool reviews say overall?
Metricool reviews lean positive but split sharply. Capterra averages 4.4 out of 5 from 98 reviews. Trustpilot averages 4.0 out of 5 from 671 reviews: 82% give five stars and 12% give one. Praise centres on analytics and ease of use; most one-star reviews are about billing.
Disclosure: Outfeed AI makes a competing social media tool. We read every price on the vendor’s own page and recommend the competitor where it fits better.
| Review site | Score | Reviews | Checked on | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Capterra | 4.4 / 5 | 98 | 30 Sep 2026 | Ease of use 4.5, customer service 4.0 |
| Trustpilot | 4.0 / 5 | 671 | 30 Sep 2026 | 82% five-star, 12% one-star; Metricool replies to negative reviews |
| G2 | Not verified | Not verified | — | G2 blocked our fetch, so we could not read the score ourselves |
| TrustRadius | Not verified | Not verified | 30 Sep 2026 | Blocked our fetch; no score given |
Five-star reviews mostly come from day-to-day users of the reports and planner; one-star reviews mostly come from billing disputes. Both are real, and the one-star reviews are consistent enough to be worth reading before you pay.
What is Metricool genuinely good at?
Analytics, above everything else. Metricool reports on 11 networks, benchmarks competitors, shows organic results next to Facebook, Instagram and Google ads, and automates branded reports. Add a free plan that never expires and it’s clear why some Capterra reviewers call it affordable next to Hootsuite and Later.
- A free plan that stays free. One brand, up to 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics and 5 competitor profiles. Metricool’s free vs paid help article says “Free does not expire” and needs no credit card.
- Analytics on 11 networks. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, Twitch, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn, with unlimited history on paid plans.
- Competitor benchmarking. 5 competitor profiles on Free, up to 100 on Starter.
- Reports clients will read. PDF and PPT reports from Starter; customizable templates and monthly automated sending on Advanced; and Metricool Studio, which builds a report from a plain-language prompt. Capterra reviewers single out the visual reports for client presentations and the heat maps of good posting times.
- Organic and paid in one place. Campaign dashboards put Facebook, Instagram and Google ads alongside organic posts.
- Billing that doesn’t grow with headcount. Plans are priced per brand bundle, not per person (how the billing models compare). The catch is that team features need Advanced.
Metricool hands you the numbers; choosing which ones matter is a separate job, covered in our guide to social media KPIs. Our explainer on how to calculate engagement rate shows the formulas behind the percentage every dashboard reports.
What do reviewers complain about most?
Billing. The complaint we saw most on Capterra and Trustpilot is an unexpected renewal charge followed by a refused refund. After that come posting errors and disconnected accounts, slow or unhelpful support, thin team collaboration below Advanced, and the free plan’s missing LinkedIn and X.
“How often we saw it” is our reading of the reviews visible on each site on 30 September 2026, not a count.
| Complaint | Where reported | How often we saw it | What Metricool’s own pages say |
|---|---|---|---|
| Renewal charges and refunds | Capterra, Trustpilot | The most common theme in one-star reviews | Refund policy: a first purchase can be withdrawn within 15 calendar days; automatic renewals, monthly or annual, are not refundable |
| Posting errors and disconnected accounts | Trustpilot | Recurring in negative reviews | Instagram troubleshooting guide: reconnect through Facebook permissions (which needs the Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page), and don’t retry a failed post quickly, because Instagram can treat repeats as spam |
| Slow or unhelpful support | Capterra | Split: many Trustpilot reviewers praise support | Not covered on the pages we read |
| Team collaboration gaps | Capterra | Occasional | Pricing page: team and client management, roles and post approvals are Advanced features |
| Free plan limits | Capterra | Occasional | Help article: Free excludes LinkedIn, X, PDF and PPT downloads, custom reports and SmartLinks |
The renewal complaints mostly concern annual plans, under a policy Metricool states plainly, so note your renewal date when you subscribe. The posting errors are partly a platform issue: Metricool’s Instagram troubleshooting guide says a disconnected account can’t publish until it’s reconnected, which is true of any tool publishing through Instagram’s API; Facebook has causes of its own, covered in why you can’t post on Facebook.
Is Metricool legit, and how do cancellation and refunds work?
Yes, Metricool is legit. It’s an established product with hundreds of public reviews, a published refund policy and replies to its negative reviews. To cancel, go to Plan & Billing and choose Cancel subscription. You keep the paid plan until the billing period ends, then drop to Free. Refunds cover a first purchase within 15 calendar days; automatic renewals aren’t refundable.
The details, from Metricool’s refund policy:
- Check the date of your first purchase under Plan & Billing, in Invoices.
- Cancel the subscription, then contact support and say you’re exercising your right of withdrawal.
- PayPal refunds are immediate. Card refunds take 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
A repurchase after a subscription has lapsed counts as a new first purchase, with its own 15-day window.
For reference, plans run from Free through Starter at $25 a month billed monthly ($20 a month billed annually) to Advanced from $67 a month billed monthly ($53 billed annually), and our Metricool pricing breakdown works out the cost per brand at every tier. Prices verified on metricool.com/pricing.
Who should use Metricool, and who should skip it?
Use Metricool if analytics and client reporting are the job and the team is small: freelancers, small businesses, and agencies with many clients. Skip it if you need a customer-care inbox with routing, full social listening, or approvals without paying for Advanced.
It suits:
- Analytics-first freelancers and small businesses on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, where the free plan may be enough.
- Agencies reporting to many clients with a small team. Advanced covers 15 to 50 brands with roles and approvals.
- Anyone running Meta or Google ads who wants paid and organic results in one report.
Look elsewhere if you are:
- A customer-care team. Hootsuite’s inbox routes messages and covers WhatsApp and SMS.
- A brand that needs listening across the web. Hootsuite (full suite on Enterprise) and Sprout Social (as an add-on) sell real listening; Metricool tracks competitors instead.
- A small team that needs approvals on a budget. Buffer’s Team plan includes approvals and unlimited users.
- A LinkedIn- or X-first creator who wants to stay free. Buffer’s free plan covers both; Metricool’s doesn’t.
How does Metricool compare with Hootsuite and Buffer?
In one line each: Hootsuite is stronger on listening, customer-care inbox and enterprise controls, and bills per seat. Buffer is simpler, lists 12 networks on its pricing page, and bills per channel with unlimited users on Team. Metricool is the analytics pick, and bills per brand.
Our Metricool vs Hootsuite, feature by feature comparison adds Buffer and prices one team on all three, and our social media tool comparisons put every tool’s billing unit side by side.
Is Metricool worth it in 2026?
For most analytics-led users, yes. The free plan lets you test it properly before paying, paid plans are priced per brand rather than per person, and reviewers consistently rate its reports highly. It is worth less if your team needs approvals below Advanced, quick support, or LinkedIn and X without paying. Set a reminder before any annual renewal.
Two things would change the verdict. If you answer customers all day, you need Hootsuite’s inbox. And if billing is the worry, pay monthly at first: it costs more, but nothing renews for a year without you.
How is Outfeed AI different from Metricool?
Outfeed AI does a different job. Metricool measures what you’ve posted; Outfeed writes and publishes it. You ask for a post in a chat, and the assistant drafts a version for each of up to 9 platforms, shows you a preview of each and schedules them. Metricool’s analytics are far deeper than ours: Outfeed has no analytics inside the product, and no social listening, inbox or approval workflow. It also reaches fewer networks than Metricool’s 11, sends X posts as text only within a monthly cap, and for now publishes TikTok posts as private while TikTok reviews our app.
One person with up to 10 accounts fits our Starter plan, at $29 a month billed monthly or $24 a month billed annually. Up to three people with 25 accounts fit Pro, at $59 or $49 a month on the same two bases. Starter includes a 3-day free trial with 100 AI credits. Card required. Pro and Agency are billed from the first day. Details are in our Outfeed AI pricing guide.
If reporting is what you pay for, keep Metricool. If you’re leaving it for another reason, our Metricool alternatives guide ranks six options.

Frequently asked questions
Is Metricool worth it?
For most analytics-led users, yes. As of 30 September 2026, reviewers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Capterra (98 reviews) and 4.0 out of 5 on Trustpilot (671 reviews), mostly for its reports and ease of use, and the free plan lets you test it without paying. It fits less well if you need approvals below the Advanced plan or fast support.
Is Metricool legit and safe to use?
Yes. Metricool is an established tool with hundreds of public reviews, a published refund policy, and replies to its negative Trustpilot reviews. The most common complaint is billing: under Metricool’s refund policy, automatic renewals are not refundable, so cancel before the renewal date if you do not want another billing period.
What are the pros and cons of Metricool?
Pros: a free plan that never expires, analytics across 11 networks, competitor benchmarking, automated client reports, and organic and paid ads results in one view. Cons: renewal charges that some reviewers did not expect, uneven support, team roles and approvals only on the Advanced plan, and no LinkedIn or X on the free plan.
Does Metricool have good customer support?
Reviews are split. Many Trustpilot reviewers praise fast, helpful support, while Capterra rates customer service 4.0 out of 5 against 4.4 overall, and some reviewers there describe slow or unhelpful replies. Metricool replies to negative reviews on Trustpilot. We could not test its support ourselves.
Can Metricool post automatically to Instagram?
Yes, with auto-publishing turned on. If auto-publishing is off for a post, Metricool marks it Sent and notifies you to publish it manually from your phone. Capterra reviewers note that those notifications reach only the account owner, which makes shared manual publishing awkward for teams.
