How to Schedule a Post on Facebook (2026)
Last verified: 30 September 2026
How to schedule a post on Facebook: open Meta Business Suite from your Page, click Create post, turn on Set date and time, pick a slot and click Schedule. Meta allows Page posts between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead. Pro-mode profiles schedule in the Facebook app, group admins and moderators in the group, and standard profiles have no documented scheduler.
All of those routes are free, and they’re Meta’s own. If Facebook is one of several networks you post to, our guide to scheduling social media posts on every platform compares all nine native schedulers.

Can you schedule a post on Facebook?
Yes, but where you post from decides how. Meta documents three scheduling surfaces: a Facebook Page (in Meta Business Suite on a computer, or in the Facebook app), a profile with professional mode turned on (the Facebook app only) and a group you admin or moderate. A standard personal profile is the gap. Meta describes no scheduler for it, and doesn’t say it’s impossible either.
That split is why so many people can’t find the schedule option. Whether you searched for how to schedule a Facebook post, how do you schedule a post on Facebook, or how to schedule FB posts from your phone, start by working out which of these four you’re posting from:
| Where | Native scheduler? | How far ahead | Who can use it | What you can schedule | Edit after scheduling | Find scheduled posts | Source | Outfeed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Facebook Page, via Meta Business Suite (desktop) | Yes | 29 days Shortest lead time: 20 minutes | People with Facebook access or task access to the Page. All scheduling times are in your current time zone. | Page posts (text, media, link, location) | Yes: Edit post (text, media, link or location), Duplicate post, Reschedule post, Move to drafts, Delete post. | From your Page: Meta Business Suite (left menu) > Create post > Planner (left menu); click the post on the Week/Month calendar, then Options. | Facebook Help Center: Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page | Page feed posts: text only, text with one photo, or text with one video. |
| Facebook mobile app: a Page, or a profile with pro mode turned on | Yes | Not stated by the platform Not verified | A Facebook Page, or a profile in pro mode ('If you have a Page or a profile in pro mode').Mobile only ('This feature is only available on mobile devices'). | Feed posts created from 'What's on your mind?' | No in-place edit: delete the scheduled post and recreate it. | Tap Manage Posts on your Page or profile. | Meta Business Help Center: How to create and schedule Facebook posts | Page feed posts: text only, text with one photo, or text with one video. No posting to personal Facebook profiles. |
| Facebook group you manage (facebook.com) | Yes | Not stated by the platform Not verified | Scheduled posts: group admins and moderators only, and only once they have started typing a post.Recurring posts (daily, weekly or monthly via Admin Assist): admins only. | Group postsRecurring group posts (Admin Assist) | Yes: Reschedule Post, Post Now, or Options > Edit post / Delete post. A recurring post appears in Scheduled posts 24 hours before it publishes; other admins must delete it from Admin Assist and re-add it to edit. | Your group > Admin tools (left menu; click Manage first if needed) > Scheduled Posts. | Facebook Help Center: Schedule a post or set up recurring posts in a Facebook group you manage | No posting to Facebook Groups. |
| Standard Facebook personal profile (pro mode off) Not verified | Not documented | Not stated by the platform | Not stated by the platform | Not stated by the platform | Not stated by the platform | Not stated by the platform | Meta Business Help Center: How to create and schedule Facebook posts | No posting to personal Facebook profiles. |
Not verified: the platform does not publish it, or it could not be confirmed.
A “Not stated by the platform” cell means Meta’s article for that surface is silent, so we leave it empty rather than borrow a number.
How to schedule a Facebook post in Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite is the only Facebook route with a published window: 20 minutes to 29 days ahead. You need Facebook access or task access to the Page, and all scheduling times are in your current time zone. It runs in a desktop browser and costs nothing.
- Switch to the Page you want to use.
- From your Page, click Meta Business Suite in the left menu.
- Click Create post below your Page’s profile picture.
- Add your content: text, media, a link or a location.
- Next to Scheduling options, click the Set date and time toggle.
- Set a date and time. Active times shows recommended times.
- Click Schedule.
Because the time is read in your current time zone, convert first if you’re planning for an audience elsewhere. Active times is Meta’s suggestion for your Page; our best time to post on Facebook guide gives you a second opinion. If the post links to your site, tag the URL with the free UTM generator first, so scheduled traffic is easy to spot in your analytics.
How to schedule a post from the Facebook app (Pages and pro mode)
On a phone, the Facebook app schedules posts for a Page or for a profile with pro mode turned on. Meta says this feature is only available on mobile devices. It publishes no scheduling window for it, and a scheduled post can’t be edited in place: to change it, you delete it and recreate it.
- At the top of your Feed, Page or profile, tap What’s on your mind?
- Create your post.
- Tap Next to open Post settings.
- Under Scheduling options, choose Schedule for later and pick a time, or one of the recommended times.
- Tap Post.
Meta’s article on creating and scheduling Facebook posts covers this route. Don’t assume Business Suite’s 29 days applies here; if you need a known limit, use Business Suite.
Turning on pro mode to schedule from your profile
To schedule from your own profile, turn on pro mode. Know the trade-off: according to Meta’s professional mode article, turning it on makes “Who can follow me” Public by default. If your profile is for friends and family, review that setting straight after you switch, along with the privacy controls for hiding your Facebook profile.
How to schedule a post in a Facebook group
Group admins and moderators can schedule posts on facebook.com, though only after they’ve started typing one. Admins can also set up recurring posts, daily, weekly or monthly, through Admin Assist. Meta gives no scheduling window for groups.
- Go to facebook.com/groups and select your group.
- Click Write something… (you might need to click Discussion first).
- Write your post, then click the calendar icon next to Post.
- Select the date and time.
- Click Schedule.
Per Meta’s group scheduling article, a recurring post shows up in Scheduled Posts 24 hours before it publishes, and if another admin needs to change it, they delete it from Admin Assist and add it again.
Where scheduled Facebook posts live, and what each surface lets you change
Scheduled posts live wherever you created them, and each surface allows different changes. Meta Business Suite lets you edit, duplicate, reschedule, move to drafts or delete. The Facebook app only lets you delete and recreate. Groups let you reschedule, post now, edit or delete.
Where each surface keeps them, in Meta’s own menu wording:
- Page, in Meta Business Suite. Find it: From your Page: Meta Business Suite (left menu) > Create post > Planner (left menu); click the post on the Week/Month calendar, then Options. Can you edit it? Yes: Edit post (text, media, link or location), Duplicate post, Reschedule post, Move to drafts, Delete post.
- Page or pro-mode profile, in the Facebook app. Find it: Tap Manage Posts on your Page or profile. Can you edit it? No in-place edit: delete the scheduled post and recreate it.
- Group you manage. Find it: Your group > Admin tools (left menu; click Manage first if needed) > Scheduled Posts. Can you edit it? Yes: Reschedule Post, Post Now, or Options > Edit post / Delete post. A recurring post appears in Scheduled posts 24 hours before it publishes; other admins must delete it from Admin Assist and re-add it to edit.
How to post a scheduled post on Facebook right away
In a group, Post Now publishes a scheduled post immediately. For a Page in Meta Business Suite, the options Meta lists for a scheduled post (edit, duplicate, reschedule, move to drafts, delete) don’t include publishing it immediately, so delete it and publish the same content without a schedule. Do the same in the Facebook app.
How far in advance can you schedule a Facebook post?
Up to 29 days, and no sooner than 20 minutes, for a Page post in Meta Business Suite. Meta’s Facebook Help Center article on scheduling Page posts says: “You can schedule posts to publish between 20 minutes and 29 days away.” Meta publishes no window for the Facebook app, for groups, or for Stories and Reels, so 29 days is the only official Facebook figure.
You’ll also see 30 days and 75 days quoted for Facebook. Neither is Meta’s Facebook figure; both are Instagram’s. Instagram’s app now allows up to 30 days in advance, and its scheduling article said 75 days until February 2026. If a guide gives a different Facebook number, check whether it’s quoting Instagram, and when it was written. Our guide to scheduling Instagram posts covers Instagram’s current rules.
| Figure you’ll see | Whose figure it is | Use it for Facebook? |
|---|---|---|
| 20 minutes to 29 days | Meta, for Facebook Page posts in Meta Business Suite | Yes |
| 30 days | Instagram’s app, today | No |
| 75 days | Instagram’s app, until February 2026 | No |
Can you schedule Facebook Reels and Stories?
Yes, in Meta Business Suite, which can schedule both for a Page. What Meta doesn’t publish is a window for either: its 20-minute to 29-day figure is stated for posts, not for Stories or Reels. Meta’s article on the app’s Schedule for later route doesn’t mention either, so we won’t guess for the app.
The same goes for polls and events. Meta’s scheduling articles don’t say whether either can be scheduled, and guides that answer on events contradict each other. New to the format? See what Reels are on Instagram and Facebook.
Which Facebook surfaces can a scheduling tool reach?
A scheduling tool earns its place when Facebook is one of several networks you post to. Before you pay for one, check which Facebook surface it can actually reach. Outfeed, for example, publishes to Pages only, using Page permissions; if you don’t have one, see how to create a Facebook Page. It can’t post to a personal profile, including one in pro mode, or to a group; for those, the native routes above are the way. Comparing paid schedulers? Our roundup of Hootsuite alternatives lays out the options.
Outfeed AI on a Facebook Page: one photo or video per post
In Outfeed AI you connect a Page with Facebook Login, choosing from the Pages you manage, then describe the post in chat. You could type:
“Schedule this photo for our Page on Friday at 9am Toronto time, and post it to Instagram too with a shorter caption.”
Once you confirm, here’s exactly what it can publish to a Facebook Page:
- Page feed posts only: text only, text with one photo (alt text you add is sent), or text with one video, which goes up as a regular Page video rather than a Reel.
- One media item per post. A post with more than one photo or video is blocked for Facebook before it can be scheduled, so albums and multi-photo posts are out.
- No Stories, Reels or first comments, and no posting to groups or personal profiles.
Unlike Business Suite, which reads times in your current time zone, Outfeed takes the zone you name, which helps when the Page’s audience lives elsewhere. Before accepting the post, it checks that the Page is still connected, the text fits within 63,206 characters and the media passes the one-item rule, then publishes through the Page API at that moment.
Because Outfeed doesn’t hand the post to Meta Business Suite, it won’t appear in Planner. And unlike a post scheduled in the Facebook app, which has to be deleted and recreated, it can be edited or rescheduled in Outfeed until it starts publishing.
The same post can carry different text for each network, which is how the Instagram half of that example gets its own caption. That’s adapting rather than mirroring, and we explain the difference in how to share Facebook posts to Instagram. If you’re running several Pages or brands, see how to manage multiple social media accounts, and for the other eight networks, head back to how to schedule social media posts.

Frequently asked questions
How do you schedule a post on Facebook?
For a Facebook Page, open Meta Business Suite from the Page, click Create post, turn on the Set date and time toggle next to Scheduling options, pick a date and time, then click Schedule. On a phone, a Page or a profile with pro mode turned on can tap What’s on your mind?, create the post, tap Next, choose Schedule for later under Scheduling options and tap Post.
Can you schedule a post on a personal Facebook profile?
Meta documents scheduling for Pages, for profiles with professional mode (pro mode) turned on and for groups where you are an admin or moderator, but not for a standard personal profile. To schedule from your own profile, turn on pro mode and use Schedule for later in the Facebook mobile app. Turning pro mode on makes ‘Who can follow me’ Public by default.
How far in advance can you schedule a post on Facebook?
Up to 29 days ahead, and at least 20 minutes ahead, for a Page post scheduled in Meta Business Suite, and all scheduling times are in your current time zone. That is Meta’s only published Facebook window. Meta states no window for scheduling in the Facebook app, in groups, or for Page Stories and Reels.
Can you schedule posts in a Facebook group?
Yes, if you are an admin or moderator of the group. Go to the group on facebook.com, click Write something…, write the post, click the calendar icon next to Post, choose a date and time and click Schedule. Admins can also set up recurring daily, weekly or monthly posts with Admin Assist. Meta gives no scheduling window for groups.
How do I edit or reschedule a scheduled Facebook post?
In Meta Business Suite, open Planner, click the post on the Week or Month calendar, then Options to edit, duplicate, reschedule, move it to drafts or delete it. A post scheduled in the Facebook app can’t be edited in place: tap Manage Posts, delete it and recreate it. In a group, open Admin tools, then Scheduled Posts, to reschedule, post now, edit or delete.
Why can’t I schedule posts on Facebook?
Check where you are posting from first. A standard personal profile has no documented scheduler, so turn on pro mode or post from a Page. Other causes are not having Facebook access or task access to the Page, trying to schedule in a group where you are not an admin or moderator, or picking a Meta Business Suite time less than 20 minutes or more than 29 days away.
