How to grow followers on Facebook organically comes down to a few habits: give people a Page worth following, invite them to follow it, post reels that can reach people who don’t follow you yet, take part in groups as your Page, and reply when people respond. Growing a personal profile instead? Turn on pro mode first.

The backbone is Meta’s own Page-growth checklist (archived 2023), updated for 2026, and every tactic uses a built-in Facebook feature. New to Pages? Our Facebook basics guide starts with profiles and Pages.

How to grow followers on Facebook: the short version

Seven tactics, in order; the last is paid and optional.

  1. Finish the Page basics: a compliant name and a username for your web address.
  2. Invite people to follow with the Invite Friends option on your Page.
  3. Share the Page from your profile and ask friends to share it.
  4. Post reels when your audience is online. Every Facebook video except Stories and Live is now a reel.

  7. Optional and paid: boost a post or promote the Page.

Page or pro mode: where should your followers go?

Use a Page for a business, brand or organization, and pro mode to grow a personal profile as a creator. Both can have unlimited followers; a profile, even in pro mode, tops out at 5,000 friends. Don’t open a second personal account for a business: Meta’s sanctioned options are a Page or pro mode.

To turn it on, Meta’s route on a computer is your profile photo, then your name, then Options below your cover photo; in the app, tap Menu, then Options above your photo. Then choose Turn on pro mode and Turn on. Meta’s Turn pro mode on or off article (checked 2 October 2026) adds that it sets Who can follow me to Public, and that turning it off removes followers who aren’t your friends.

Set up your Page so people want to follow it

Your Page’s name, username and About details are what people see before they follow, so fix those first. Meta’s rules say a Page name must accurately reflect the Page, without slogans, descriptions, symbols, all-caps (acronyms aside) or “official” unless it is. Descriptions go in the About section.

Then claim a username: it appears under your Page name and forms your web address, facebook.com/username.

On a computer:

  1. Log into Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right.
  2. Click See all profiles, then select the Page you want to switch into.
  3. Click your Page's profile picture in the top right.
  4. Click Settings & privacy, then click Settings.
  5. In the left menu, click Page setup.
  6. Click Name, then click Edit next to your username.
  7. Enter a username.
  8. If the username is available, click Save changes.

Meta’s iPhone and Android articles say to create a Page username from a computer, and new Pages may not get one straight away. No Page yet? See how to create a Facebook Page; Facebook SEO covers names in more depth.

Invite people and share your Page

Your first followers already know you, and Facebook has a built-in way to ask them. Meta’s Pages help lists “Invite people to follow your Page” as an engagement tool; its 2023 checklist also said to share the Page from your profile and ask friends to share it.

The invite is to follow, not to like: Meta’s Follow a Facebook Page article (checked 2 October 2026) says Pages that previously had a Like button may now only have a Follow button.

On a computer:

  1. Go to the Page you’d like to share with your friends.
  2. Click Options below the Page’s cover photo and select Invite Friends.
  3. Click Switch below Switch profiles in the pop-up box.
  4. Click the names of the profiles you want to invite to follow the Page.
  5. Click Send Invites.

In the iPhone or Android app:

  1. Go to the Page or profile you’d like to invite your friends to follow.
  2. Tap Options at the top of your Page.
  3. Tap Invite friends.
  4. Select the friends you’d like to invite.
  5. Tap Send Invites at the bottom.

Post reels and post when your audience is online

Reels can put your Page in front of people who don’t follow it yet. Meta’s Facebook Reels system card (updated 19 June 2026, checked 2 October 2026) describes Reels as content “from creators you may not follow,” and since September 2025 every Facebook video, except Stories and Live, is shared as a reel.

Meta’s advice for Pages: post regularly, experiment with reels, posts and stories, and use Insights to learn when followers are most active. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: Best practices to deepen relationships with followers in Meta Business Suite Its 2023 checklist put timing plainly: “Sharing content when your audience is online is key to higher Page engagement.” Start from the best time to post on Facebook.

Then reply to comments and messages, as Meta advises. Facebook engagement posts help start those conversations.

Use Facebook Groups as your Page

Meta’s 2023 checklist recommended posting as your Page in local or industry groups, and Pages can still do it within today’s limits. A Page can only request to join, groups can’t invite Pages, and some admins don’t allow Pages at all. Already a member as yourself? Meta says to change your interaction settings to join as the Page.

Pick a few groups where your customers ask questions, follow their rules, and help before you mention an offer. Don’t mass-join or mass-post: Meta’s spam policy (checked 2 October 2026) covers posting and engaging “at very high frequencies,” manually or automatically. How to use Facebook Groups for marketing also covers running your own group.

A 30-day plan to grow Facebook followers

Thirty days is enough to finish the Page, invite your first followers and see what gets a response. Meta’s advice is simply to post regularly, so the plan assumes three posts a week, one of them a reel.

If Facebook isn’t your only network, Outfeed AI, which publishes this guide, drafts and schedules posts for your Facebook Page and eight other networks from one chat. The limits: on Facebook it publishes text-only, single-photo or single-video posts to Pages only (a video goes up as a standard Page video, not through Facebook’s Reels tools), never Stories, profiles or groups, and TikTok posts publish as private for now while TikTok reviews the app.

Why you should never buy Facebook followers

Because it breaks Meta’s rules and doesn’t build an audience. Meta’s spam policy bans “selling, buying, or exchanging for engagement, such as likes, shares, views, follows, clicks,” and content “designed to deceive, mislead, or overwhelm users in order to artificially increase viewership.” Followers who never see your posts won’t become customers.

That rules out follower and like vendors (buying engagement), follow-for-follow swaps and engagement pods (exchanging it), and bots or mass follow-and-unfollow (very high-frequency activity). With a budget, the legitimate shortcut is paid: boost a post or promote the Page. For other networks, see our social media growth levers.

FAQ

How do I get more followers on my Facebook Page fast?

Use the free moves in Meta’s guidance: invite friends to follow the Page, share it from your profile, post reels and reply to comments and messages. Boosting a post or promoting the Page is the paid route. Never buy followers: Meta’s spam policy bans buying or selling engagement such as follows and likes.

What is the difference between Page likes and followers on Facebook?

Meta says following a Page is how you get its updates in your Feed, and that Pages that previously had a Like button may now only have a Follow button, and if someone had liked a Page without following it, that connection was removed. So followers are the number worth growing.

How do I get followers on my personal Facebook profile?

Turn on pro mode (Options, then Turn on pro mode, then Turn on). Meta says this sets Who can follow me to Public, and a pro-mode profile can have unlimited followers, while friends stay capped at 5,000. Turning it off later removes followers who aren’t your friends.

Do Facebook Reels help you gain followers?

They can reach people who don’t follow you yet: Meta’s Facebook Reels system card describes Reels as content from creators people may not follow. And since September 2025, every video posted to Facebook, except Stories and Live, is shared as a reel.
