What is the Meta Verified subscription for Instagram?

It’s identity verification you pay for every month. You confirm who you are, usually with photos of a government-issued ID, and Meta adds a verified badge to the profile, removes accounts it decides are impersonating you, and gives you chat and email support. It works on Instagram personal and creator profiles and on Facebook profiles. Businesses have a separate version.

Meta now also sells Meta One, a subscription it says “builds on Meta Verified”, and its Meta Verified page says Meta Verified features are now available in Meta One. Checked against Meta: Meta Verified product page

How to get Meta Verified on Instagram

Open your profile menu in the Instagram app and tap Meta Verified. You choose the profile, pay, turn on two-factor authentication, confirm your name and picture, and upload photos of your ID. Review can take up to 3 business days. If you don’t finish verifying within 3 days, the subscription is cancelled and you’re eligible for a refund.

On iPhone:

  1. Open the Instagram mobile app and log into your account.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  3. Tap Menu in the top right, then tap Meta Verified.
  4. Select the profile you want to verify, then tap Single profile subscription.
  5. Tap Pay now, then confirm your payment through the Apple App Store.
  6. Select a two-factor authentication security method, tap Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. Confirm (or edit) your profile name and profile picture.
  8. Select the type of ID, take photos of the front and back, tap Submit, then tap Finish.

  2. Click More in the bottom left, then click Meta Verified.
  3. Select the profile you want to verify, then click Single profile subscription.
  4. Click Pay to get benefits, then enter your payment information on the next screen.

While your application is pending, you may not be able to change your profile name, username, category, location or date of birth.

How to cancel Meta Verified

Cancel where you subscribed, at least 24 hours before your next payment date. The subscription stays active until the end of the billing cycle, and Meta gives no credits or partial refunds for cancelled subscriptions.

Where you bought it decides where you cancel, according to Instagram’s cancellation article: Checked against Instagram Help Center: Cancel your Meta Verified creator subscription

  • Through Apple: on your iPhone or iPad, go to your verified profile in Instagram and tap Menu, then Meta Account, Meta Verified, Manage subscription and Cancel subscription.
  • Through Google Play: cancel in Google Play, signed in to the Google account you paid with.
  • On a computer, directly through Meta: cancel on a computer; a subscription bought that way can’t be cancelled on a phone.

Logging out or deleting the app doesn’t cancel it, and cancelling removes Meta Verified from every profile on the subscription. Some people see Accounts Center instead of Meta Account while Instagram moves everyone over.

Meta Verified vs the free verified badge

There are two ways to get the badge: pay for Meta Verified, or apply for free as a notable public figure, celebrity or brand. The free route is harder, and a request doesn’t guarantee a badge.

Instagram’s verification requirements say the account must be authentic, unique, complete (public, with a bio and profile photo, and active) and notable: a well-known, highly searched person, brand or entity featured in multiple news sources, with paid or sponsored media not counted. If you qualify, you apply from your professional dashboard:

On iPhone:

  1. Make sure you're logged in to the account you're requesting a verified badge for.
  2. Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  3. Tap Menu in the top right.
  4. Below Your insights and tools, tap Professional dashboard then tap Settings in the top right.
  5. Tap Request verification.
  6. Enter your full name and provide the required form of identification (example: government-issued photo ID or official business documents).
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions, then tap Submit.

Android uses the same steps. Applying again before a decision cancels your application, and once verified you may not change your username. Is Meta Verified worth it?

It’s worth paying for if impersonation or reaching a person at Meta is a real problem for you. Don’t buy it as a growth plan. Meta lists discovery features, search optimization on every plan and a featured profile from Plus up, but its pages give no figures for reach or followers.

FAQ

How much is Meta Verified on Instagram per month?

Meta lists the creator plans at $14.99 (Standard), $49.99 (Plus), $149.99 (Premium) and $499.99 (Max) a month per profile. Standard is $11.99 a month when you subscribe on the web in most regions; Plus, Premium and Max can only be bought in the mobile app. Pricing may vary by region, and your local price shows during sign-up.

Is Meta Verified worth it for Instagram?

It’s worth it if you need what it sells: a verified badge, monitoring for accounts pretending to be you, and chat or email support for account issues. Meta’s pages give no figures for extra reach or followers, and Meta says its enhanced support may not be available to all subscribers at this time. Instagram business accounts can’t use the creator plans.

What are the requirements for Meta Verified on Instagram?

You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live), be in a country where Meta Verified is offered, and have a government-issued photo ID. The Instagram profile must be a personal or creator profile with Advanced Protection turned on that meets minimum activity requirements, and you can’t have made too many recent profile changes.

Do I need separate Meta Verified subscriptions for Instagram and Facebook?

Not necessarily. You can verify up to two eligible profiles, one Instagram and one Facebook, that are added to the same Meta Account, and Meta says bundling them may get a discounted price. Both profiles may need similar names and pictures, and cancelling removes Meta Verified from every profile on the subscription at the end of the billing cycle.

Can you get verified on Instagram without Meta Verified?

Yes, if you qualify. Instagram describes two ways to get the verified badge: subscribe to Meta Verified, or apply as a public figure, celebrity or brand that meets its criteria. The account must be authentic, unique, complete and notable, meaning featured in multiple news sources, with paid or sponsored media not counted. You apply from Professional dashboard, then Settings, then Request verification, and a request doesn’t guarantee a badge.
