Is LinkedIn Premium Career Worth It? The Short Answer

LinkedIn Premium Career is worth it for a month or two of active applying, if you’ll use its job tools, InMail credits and LinkedIn Learning; as a background subscription it’s poor value. US list prices start at $39.99 a month (LinkedIn Premium, checked ) or $239.88 a year, and LinkedIn’s own success statistics show correlation, not cause.

Buy it if you’re applying to several roles a week, want the full list of who viewed your profile, or want LinkedIn Learning anyway.

Skip it if you aren’t actively looking, you mainly post and network, or you need advanced people search, which LinkedIn’s plan comparison doesn’t include in Career.

Read “advanced” closely. The Career page’s advanced search filters find jobs where you’d be a top applicant and people hiring for the role you want. LinkedIn Help’s plan comparison, also the source of the free-account column, ticks “Advanced search” only for All-in-One, Sales Navigator Core and Recruiter Lite Source: LinkedIn Help: Difference between free LinkedIn and LinkedIn Premium accounts, checked .

LinkedIn Learning sells no individual courses or individual subscriptions; LinkedIn calls Premium Career the subscription that “most resembles an individual subscription” Source: LinkedIn Help: Difference between free LinkedIn and LinkedIn Premium accounts, checked . If courses are the draw, compare our social media manager courses guide and the skills employers want first.

What the InMail Credits Really Cost

Each credit costs about $8.00 at the US monthly price, or $4.00 billed yearly (our arithmetic, before tax), if Premium were only InMail.

Does Premium Career Help You Get a Job? Reading LinkedIn’s Own Stats

LinkedIn’s own figures can’t tell you. Its sales page says Premium subscribers are 2.7x more likely to get hired on average, but that figure dates from January 2022, rests on unpublished LinkedIn data and is a correlation: people who pay for Premium may already be the most active job seekers.

Premium Career vs Premium Business

Career is for getting hired; LinkedIn says Business helps you “get detailed business insights and further expand your business”. Business triples InMail to 15 credits a month and adds business insights, a custom button and Premium Service Page features: selling tools, not job-search ones.

The LinkedIn Premium Career Free Trial: Rules to Know

LinkedIn offers a Premium Career free trial, but not every member qualifies, its length “may vary based on region or promotional terms”, a valid credit card is required, and it becomes a paid plan unless you cancel before it ends. Older LinkedIn Help pages still say one month, so check your own terms.

  • You can’t switch Premium plans for free during the trial.
  • Cancelling a trial ends it at once, along with your Premium access Source: LinkedIn Help: Cancel LinkedIn Premium subscription, checked ; page date: 'Last updated: 4 weeks ago' (shown 2026-10-03).
  • After cancelling a trial, you can’t start another for at least 12 months, and you may still not qualify after that Source: LinkedIn Help: Try multiple free Premium subscriptions, checked ; page date: 'Last updated: 7 months ago' (shown 2026-10-03).
  • LinkedIn emails a reminder before the trial ends only if you signed up on its desktop site.

When to Start the Trial and When to Cancel

Start the trial the day your applications start: its value is what you send during it. Cancelling a trial ends Premium immediately, so don’t cancel early “to be safe”; set a reminder a few days before it converts and decide then.

WhenWhat to do
Before day 1Free prep: upload your resume for applications, draft a headline with our LinkedIn headline generator, set a custom profile URL, fix your banner size
Day 1Start the trial and note when it converts to paid
During the trialApply, marking your best fits Top Choice; InMail hiring managers for roles you’ve applied to
Days before it convertsCompare replies and interviews with the month before; keep it only if they rose

How to Cancel LinkedIn Premium Career (and Get a Refund)

If you bought Premium from LinkedIn, cancel on its desktop site (or Android app) from Premium features; app-store purchases cancel through the store. Refunds aren’t automatic: LinkedIn says Premium may be refundable within 7 days of a charge if you haven’t used it.

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage and select Premium features.
  2. Click Manage subscription under Plan Details, then Purchases.
  3. Select your Active subscription.
  4. Click Cancel subscription under Actions, then Confirm cancel.

Bought through Apple? Cancel in the LinkedIn app on an Apple device; Apple handles those refunds. Through Google Play? Use LinkedIn’s desktop site, its app or Google Play.

Afterwards you’re on a free Basic account with your profile, connections and data intact. Premium ends with the billing cycle, taking accumulated InMail credits with it, and a cancelled promotional or discontinued price can’t be bought again.

A previous refund may affect eligibility. EU consumers get a full refund within 14 days of a subscription starting, counted from day one of any free trial.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can recruiters see that I have LinkedIn Premium?

Only if you show the badge. Premium members can display a gold Premium badge on their profile and beside their name in search results, and can switch it off under Premium Settings in the Edit intro window (LinkedIn Help, checked 3 October 2026).

Is there a free trial of LinkedIn Premium Career?

Yes, but not for everyone. LinkedIn says not all members qualify, length may vary by region or promotion, a valid credit card is required, and the trial becomes a paid plan unless you cancel first. Cancel one and you can’t get another for at least 12 months.

What happens when I cancel LinkedIn Premium Career?

You go back to a free Basic account, keeping your profile, connections and data. A paid plan runs to the end of the billing cycle, so cancel at least one day before the billing date; a trial ends at once. Accumulated InMail credits are lost, and a cancelled promotional price can’t be bought again.

How many InMail credits do you get with LinkedIn Premium Career?

Five a month, per LinkedIn’s Premium Career page and its Help Center plan comparison, which lists 15 for Premium Business and 30 for Premium All-in-One. Free accounts can still receive unlimited InMail messages.
