Threads has had a built-in scheduler since 23 January 2025, so you can schedule posts without any tool. Write the post, tap the three-dot menu on the composer, tap Schedule, choose a date and time, then tap Schedule again. The post waits in your drafts folder until it goes out. Replies can’t be scheduled.

Meta never wrote a help-centre article for the feature, so the official record is three posts from Threads and Meta accounts:

  • 17 December 2024: Threads starts testing scheduled posts, and Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram and Threads, posts that “Replies cannot be scheduled.”
  • 23 January 2025: scheduling rolls out. The @threads launch post, shared by @creators, reads: “We scheduled this post, and now you can do the same.”
  • 30 September 2026, our latest check: the Threads help centre still has no article on scheduling, and Meta still publishes no limit on how far ahead you can schedule.

New to the app itself? Our explainer on what Threads is covers that. Scheduling a multi-post thread on X is a different question, answered in how to schedule tweets. This page is only about getting a post out on Meta’s Threads app at a set time; the guide to scheduling social media posts does the same job for all nine networks.

Can you schedule posts on Threads?

Yes. Scheduling is built into the Threads composer, and Meta’s official posts don’t restrict it by account type. That makes it the free first choice for anyone posting only to Threads. What Meta hasn’t done is document the details. There is no help-centre article, so the official record is a handful of posts from @threads and Adam Mosseri. The table shows what they settle and what they leave open.

How to schedule a post on Threads

You schedule from the Threads composer in three steps, and the post then waits in your drafts folder:

  1. Write your post in the composer.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu on the composer, then tap Schedule.
  3. Choose a date and time, then tap Schedule again.

Check the length first. A Threads text post is capped at 500 characters, and our free character counter checks Threads posts as well as Instagram captions. For the time itself, our best time to post on Threads guide has the day-by-day data.

Meta’s posts describe the composer only. They don’t say whether threads.com in a desktop browser offers the same option, so if you can’t find it on the web, schedule from the app.

Where do scheduled Threads posts go, and how do you edit them?

Scheduled posts wait in your drafts folder, each with a note of when it will publish. Threads’ test announcement put it this way: “Your scheduled posts will appear in your drafts folder, along with a note indicating what time they’re scheduled to publish.”

  • Where to find them: Your drafts folder, with a note showing when each is scheduled to publish.
  • Can you change them? Yes: edit or delete from the drafts folder.

Meta’s posts mention editing and deleting, not a separate reschedule option. If you need a different time and can’t find one when you edit, delete the post and schedule it again.

Scheduled posts in drafts are easy to forget, so look through the folder each time you plan a batch. A post that no longer fits the week is easier to fix before it publishes than after.

Replies can’t be scheduled. What else is unconfirmed?

Replies. That is the only limit Meta has stated. Mosseri’s post when the test began says “Replies cannot be scheduled.” In practice, your own replies under a scheduled post have to go out live once it publishes.

Everything else is unstated rather than forbidden. Meta hasn’t said:

  • How far ahead you can schedule. Press reports at launch said 75 days. No Meta or Threads page says so, so treat it as reported.
  • Whether polls or carousels can be scheduled. The scheduling posts mention neither.
  • Whether threads.com on the web can schedule.
  • Whether there is a daily limit. Press reports mention several posts a day; no number is published.

Can Meta Business Suite schedule Threads posts?

Unconfirmed either way. Meta’s article on cross-posting in Meta Business Suite says a Facebook post or an Instagram post can be cross-posted to Threads from Meta Business Suite on desktop, once the Threads profile is added to your business portfolio (formerly Meta Business Manager). It doesn’t say whether that cross-post can be scheduled or only published straight away.

The same article says that from September 2026 you can manage Threads access settings separately from Instagram, rolling out gradually. A flat “can” or “can’t” goes further than Meta does. If you already schedule Instagram there, our guide to scheduling Instagram posts covers that side. For the rest of the Instagram app, from your profile to privacy settings, see our guide to using Instagram.

When is a Threads scheduler worth it over the app?

Scheduling tools publish to Threads through Meta’s Threads API and send the post at your chosen time. For Threads alone, the app’s scheduler is free and usually enough. A tool earns its place when Threads is one of several networks you post to, when you want one calendar for all of them, or when you’d rather work from a computer.

Before picking one, check whether it publishes automatically or only reminds you; whether it posts carousels and alt text; and whether it can post a reply chain, which the app can’t schedule. Also check where its scheduled posts show up. A tool that holds posts itself, as Outfeed does, won’t put them in your Threads drafts.

Outfeed AI on Threads: carousels of up to 20, no reply chains

Outfeed connects with Threads’ own login and publishes text posts, a single image or video, or a carousel of up to 20 images and videos, with alt text on images. Posts are checked against 500 characters before they can be scheduled. It doesn’t post reply chains, polls or topic tags.

Threads’ 500 characters rarely survive the trip to X or Bluesky unchanged (X allows 280, as our Threads vs Twitter chart shows), so one Outfeed post can carry a different text per network. You could type: “Post this on Threads Thursday at 8 a.m. New York time, and a shorter version on X.” For the X half, see how to schedule tweets; before mirroring Threads posts to Bluesky, read our note on cross-posting to Bluesky. Frequently asked questions

Can you schedule posts on Threads natively?

Yes. Threads rolled out native scheduling on 23 January 2025, after a test that began on 17 December 2024. Write your post, tap the three-dot menu on the composer, tap Schedule, choose a date and time and tap Schedule again. Scheduled posts wait in your drafts folder with a note of when they will publish.

How far in advance can you schedule a Threads post?

Meta hasn’t published a limit. Press reports at launch said 75 days, but no Threads or Meta page states a scheduling window, so treat that figure as reported rather than official.

Can you schedule Threads posts from a computer?

Meta hasn’t said whether threads.com on the web can schedule posts; its official posts describe scheduling in the Threads composer. Meta Business Suite on desktop can cross-post a Facebook or Instagram post to Threads, but Meta doesn’t say whether that cross-post can be scheduled.

Can you schedule Threads posts with Meta Business Suite?

Unconfirmed. Meta says a Facebook post or an Instagram post can be cross-posted to Threads from Meta Business Suite on desktop, once the Threads profile is added to the business portfolio. Its article doesn’t say whether that cross-post can be scheduled rather than published straight away.

Meta doesn’t say. Its posts about Threads scheduling mention neither carousels nor polls; the one stated limit is that replies cannot be scheduled. Through the Threads API, Outfeed publishes carousels of up to 20 images and videos, but it does not post polls.

How do I see or edit scheduled posts on Threads?

Open your drafts folder. Threads says scheduled posts appear there with a note showing what time they are scheduled to publish, and that you can edit or delete them from there.
