Joking vs Real Delusions: Use It With Care
Delulu is a joke word, so keep it for jokes everyone is in on. Our rule of thumb: use it for wishful thinking the other person would laugh at too. Don’t use it about someone who may be unwell, and don’t use it to brush off a worry someone has shared with you. If a friend is struggling, talk to them directly instead of through slang. Delulu in Brand Captions
Aim the joke at the brand, never at customers. “Launching iced coffee in December. Delulu is the solulu.” works because the brand is the one dreaming. Calling a customer’s request or a critic delulu reads as mockery, and brands in health or wellness are better off skipping the word.
